RECREATIONAL LEAGUE AND JUNIOR BASEBALL ORGANIZATION, INC (JBO) PROGRAMS
The Hillsboro Boys Baseball Association (HBBA) offers two baseball programs: Recreational League and Junior Baseball Organization, Inc. (JBO). The following is a brief description of the two programs.
The Recreational League Baseball Program was formed to provide an opportunity for players in grades K-6 to play Baseball without tracking league standings or win/loss records. Each player bats in order and will play a minimum of three innings of defense per game. All games are played within the Hillsboro School District. Games are played twice per week with at least one scheduled practice per week. Players grades K-6 are put together by school whenever possible. Players grades 7 & 8 are selected for teams through JBO, Inc. skill evaluation process (see below). No player is denied a spot on a team unless a player registers late and there are no spots available (see 2008 Schedule of Events).
Junior Baseball Organization , INC. League is available to all players through 16 years of age (contact coordinator for detailed age/grade requirements). Our teams play throughout the greater Washington County area for their league games. League standings are kept for state tournament play-offs, held at the end of the regular season. Practices begin in April (except for “Cub” players) and games are played from May through July. Weekend tournaments are scheduled throughout the season with teams attending a minimum of two tournaments. Players are selected for JBO, INC. teams after participating in an evaluation process (see 2008 Schedule of Events). Players are placed on teams based on their skill level as determined by the evaluation. Every effort will be made to place players on a JBO, INC. team based on the evaluation results. However, where player safety and/or team numbers are an issue, players may be placed on a Recreational League team. Each player on a JBO, INC. team bats in order and must play a minimum of six (6) defensive outs per game. Contact HBBA for more information.
